Principle of method

The density of test item is determined by using pyknometer. It is the ratio of mass of the unit volume of test item at a stated temperature to mass of the same volume of gas free distilled water at a stated temperature.

Additional information

The density of test item 3-Hydroxyacetophenone (CAS No. 121-71-1)was determined following OECD Guideline 109 and according to the method Adapted from ASTM D854-02 using glass pyknometer. The mean density of 3-Hydroxyacetophenone (CAS No. 121-71-1) was determined to be 1.220 g/cm³ at 20°C and 975.6 hPa.

Other supporting study from reliable sources also suggests that the density of the substance 3'-hydroxyacetophenone was determined to be determined to be in the range of 1.0092 g/cm3 to 1.1 g/cm3 at 25°C.

As the data from lab has K1 reliability and the test was performed using OECD guidelines which has the value of density as 1.220 g/cm3 thus considered as key study for the chemical safety assessment.
