The vapor pressure value at 25 deg C for chemical safety assessment of 3'-hydroxyacetophenone was 0.0225 Pa falls in the above range.

Partition coefficient:

Partition coefficient of test chemical was studied and mention below:

The partition Coefficient n-octanol/water of test chemical was determined by the Reverse Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatographic method according to OECD Guideline No. 117 for testing of Chemicals. The reference substances were chosen according to estimated Pow range of the test substance and generalized calibration graph was prepared.

The reference substances were having Pow value ranging from 0.3 to 6.5. The Log Pow value was determined to be 1.144 ± 0.000 dimensionless at 25°C.

This value indicates that the substance is hydrophilic in nature.

Similarly in the second study from authoritative database and handbooks, suggests that the experimental Log Pow of 3’-hydroacetphenone was 1.39.This value indicates that it is hydrophillic in nature, which is also supported by its high solubility in water.

Water solubility:

The water solubility determination of test item 1-(3-hydroxyphenyl)ethanone was done as per the OECD guideline 105 by spectrophotometric analytical method as per OECD 101. The solubility of 1-(3-hydroxyphenyl)ethanone in water was determine to be 3981.8 mg/L at 30°C. Thus the 1-(3-hydroxyphenyl)ethanone is considered to be soluble in water.

The experimental water solubility of 3’-hydroxyacetophenone was 21500 mg/l at 25 deg C. This value signifies that 3’-hydroxyacetophenone is highly soluble in water.

Thus based on the both studies, it was concluded that the chemical was highly soluble in water.
