Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

No data on the biodegradability potential of TFAK is available. Two reliable key studies on sodium trifluoroacetate (TFANa) are available, and are used in a read-across approach (See the endpoint study summary "Environmental fate and pathways" for the read-across justification).

Regarding the results obtained with TFANa, potassium trifluoroacetate (TFAK) is considered as not readily biodegradable and not inherently biodegradable, in water screening tests.

For biodegradation in soil and sediments, waiving were done, based on the low partition coefficient of TFAK (logKoc = 2 ), allowing to expect a low potential of adsorption onto soil and sediment.
