The transfer of a substance from the water phase to the gas phase can be estimated by means of the Henry’s Law Constant (HLC). No measured value for this parameter is available. The HLC can be estimated from the ratio of the vapour pressure to the water solubility.

 

HLC = (VP * MW)/ WS

 

Volatilisation from water is not relevant for methyl-N- [3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]carbamate (CAS 23432-62-4)  due to its very rapid hydrolysis in contact with water. The calculated HLC value for the hydrolysis product methyl-N-[3-(trihydroxysilyl)propyl]carbamate  at environmental temperature (25°C) is low, 5.57E-013 Pa-m3/mole (taken from HENRYWIN (v3.20)).
