Endpoint:
flammability
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to
Guideline:
EU Method A.13 (Pyrophoric Properties of Solids and Liquids)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. certificate)

None of the components of the test substance contains a chemical group that might lead to spontaneous ignition a short time after coming into contact with air. It is not to be expected that an interaction between the different components occurs. The other minor impurities, present for < 3% in the test substance, were not taken into account but it is not to be expected that these have any influence. Furthermore, experience in handling during the flash point study shows that the test substance does not ignite spontaneously after coming in contact with air at room temperature. In conclusion, the test substance is not pyrophoric.

Interpretation of results:
other: Not pyrophoric.
Conclusions:
OS-1600 is not pyrophoric.
Executive summary:

Based on the composition of the substance, the components do not contain a chemical group that might lead to spontaneous ignition a short time after coming into contact with air. Furthermore, experience in handling shows that the test substance does not ignite spontaneously after coming in contact with air at room temperature. In conclusion, the test substance is not pyrophoric.

None of the components of the test substance does contain groups that might lead to the evolution of a dangerous amount of flammable gas when coming into contact with water or damp air. No metals, transition metals or boron are present. The other minor impurities, present for < 3% in the test substance, were not taken into account but it is not to be expected that these have any influence. It is not to be expected that an interaction between the different components occur. In conclusion, the test substance is not highly flammable in contact with water or damp air.

Interpretation of results:
other: Non-flammable in contact with water or damp air.
Conclusions:
OS-1600 is not highly flammable in contact with water or damp air.
Executive summary:

Based on the composition of the substance, the components do not contain groups that might lead to the evolution of a dangerous amount of flammable gas when in coming into contact with water of damp air. Therefore, the substance is considered to be not highly flammable in contact with water or damp air.

Description of key information

The test substance is not highly flammable in contact with water or damp air. The test substance is not pyrophoric.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Flammability in contact with water: Key study: Based on the composition of the substance, the components do not contain groups that might lead to the evolution of a dangerous amount of flammable gas when in coming into contact with water of damp air. Therefore, the substance is considered to be not highly flammable in contact with water or damp air.

Pyrophoric properties: Key study: Based on the composition of the substance, the components do not contain a chemical group that might lead to spontaneous ignition a short time after coming into contact with air. Furthermore, experience in handling shows that the test substance does not ignite spontaneously after coming in contact with air at room temperature. In conclusion, the test substance is not pyrophoric.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on available data, the substance is non-flammable and therefore it is not classified in accordance with CLP Regulation (EC) no. 1272/2008.
