EC number: 945-888-9
CAS number: -
According to the results of the
Transformation/Dissolution protocol (pH 8; ca. 22 °C; 7d; 100 mg/L
loading), Zr and Hf are not released from the test item as measured
concentrations were below the detection limit (see section 4.8 of the
present dossier). Yb could be analytically verified at 0.069 µg/L and is
hence the relevant component for the assessment of potential
ecotoxicological effects. As Yb is only released in the low µg/L range
and available ecotoxicological studies with "zirconium oxide, ytterbium
and hafnium doped" in Daphnia (Knauer 2016, section 6.1.3) and algae
(Knauer 2016, section 6.1.5) did not reveal any adverse effects at
nominal concentrations of 100 mg/L, toxic effects on other organisms are
as well not expected and are considered highly unlikely.
Long-term tests on aquatic organisms are not
necessary since no hazard was identified in the CSA and no hazard for
long-term exposure is expected for aquatic organisms. This entails no
classification regarding aquatic environment.
Secondary poising of predators is not
expected from Yb.
