Description of key information

The test substance does not contain any groups that act as an oxidizing agent. The oxygen atoms that are present in the molecular structure of the test substance are chemically bonded to carbon or hydrogen. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, testing of styrene oxide for oxidising properties does not need to be conducted, as the substance does not contain any structural groups known to be correlated with a tendency to react exothermally with combustible material.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to Directive 67/548 EEC as well as GHS Regulation EC No 1272/2008, styrene oxide does not need to be classified with regard to this endpoint and labelling is not required.
