Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Stability:

After evaporation or exposure to the atmosphere the test item photodegradates by a reaction with OH-radicals with a half-life of 8.8 d. The test item biodegradates fast and will hydrolyse slowly in contact with water.

Biodegradation

The test item is readily biodegradable with 80-90 % degradadtion within 28 d.

Bioaccumulation:

There are neither aquatic nor terrestric studies for bioaccumulation of 1.2 -epoxybutane available. The assessment of bioaccumulation is based on the 1-octanol/water partition coefficients of 0.68 [BASF AG, 1988]. Regarding the 1-octanol/water partition coefficient, accumulation of the test substance in organisms is not to be expected.

Transport and distribution:

Due it's low log Koc of 1.3 (Koc=20.43 L/kg) no adsorption of the test item to the solid soil phase ist expected. the test item will not evaporate to the air from the water phase (Henry's law constant = 21.5 Pa m³/mol).
