Description of key information

The test substance UAX-1179 is acutely not harmful to aquatic algae under conditions tested (EC50 > 100 mg/L).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study investigated the toxicity of the test substance UAX-1179 (CAS: 351197-46-1) to aquatic algae (Bätscher, 2002c). The study was performed according to the OECD Guideline 201. The green algae Scenedesmus subspicatus was used for the test and exposed to concentrations of 4.6, 10, 22, 46 and 100 mg/L for 72 h. The test substance was completely soluble in the test medium. No precipitation was noticed. After 72 h an EC50 of > 100 mg/L resulted for the endpoints growth rate and biomass. At the highest test concentration of 100 mg/L the growth was inhibited by 10.1%. The NOEC is 46 mg/L.
