Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Activated sludge respiration inhibition testing on Ethaneperoxoic acid, reaction products with 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,10,10,10-heptadecafluorodecyl thiocyanate and 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8-tridecafluorooctyl thiocyanate: 3h EC50 >100 mg/L (highest concentration tested; read across substance);

Aerobic biotransformation in activated sludge from WWTPs is less than 7% of initially dosed 6:2  Fluorotelomer  sulfonate,  potassium  salt (read across substance), which was converted to various transformation products after 90 d.

Additional information

No toxicity to microorganisms with the test substance is available. An OECD Guideline 209 study with  Ethaneperoxoic acid, reaction products with 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,10,10,10-heptadecafluorodecyl thiocyanate and 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8-tridecafluorooctyl thiocyanate was used as a read across to fulfill the data gap for the test substance.

The underlying hypothesis supporting read-across includes the following: Additional documentation, provided within the IUCLID Assessment Reports section, supports the read-across approach.

The test substance had no significant inhibitory effect on the respiration rate of activated sludge at any of the concentrations employed in the test. The 3-hour EC50 was >100 mg/L.
