A grouping approach was used to describe the physical and chemical properties of the substance 1-Propanaminium, N-(3-aminopropyl)-2-hydroxy-N,N-dimethyl-3-sulfo-, N-(C12-18(even numbered) acyl) derivs., hydroxides, inner salts (EC 939-457-4). For this aim, the structurally analogue substance 1-Propanaminium, N-(3-aminopropyl)-2-hydroxy-N,N-dimethyl-3-sulfo-, N-(C8-18(even numbered) acyl) derivs., hydroxides, inner salts (EC 939-455-3) was used as source substance.

The studies used for the grouping approach were performed on either dried commercial products (solid content = active content + minor constituents + impurities) or aqueous commercial products (the substance is manufactured in aqueous solutions and is never used in a solid form).

The grouping approach is built on the following similarities: general chemical process of manufacturing, functional groups, general composition and main constituent ( C12 alkylamidopropylhydroxysultaine). The main variable resides in the alkyl C-chain distribution.
