Additional information

The available experimental data of acute toxicity for daphnids regarding all environmental aquatic compartments (freshwater, marine and brackish water), indicate at first glance the need to classify the substance as "aquatic chronic 3" since the results (EC50 and LC50) are in the range of > 10 to =< 100 mg/L (EC50(48h): 12.5 mg/L (Tadokoro et al., 1997), EC50(48h): 18.3 mg/L (Curtis et al., 1978) and LC50(96h): 11.8 mg/L (Bengtsson, 1983) for invertebrates in freshwater, marine and brackish water, respectively. Furthermore, the substance was found to be not readily biodegradable.

However, this classification is refuted by the available experimental long-term NOEC for daphnids, which is greater than 1 mg/L. (NOEC(21d): 1.1 mg/L).

As conclusion, the substance has not to be classified and labelled according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
