Description of key information

Based on the guideline study (Vryenhoef, 2010), the ErC50(72h) of the test item is 45 mg/L for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. Results of this study are reliable without restrictions.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
45 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
3.2 mg/L

Additional information

The Klimisch 1, key study by Vryenhoef and Mullee performed a test at concentrations of 1.0, 3.2, 10, 32 and 100 mg/L. This concentration range was chosen after the performance of a range-finding test. Algae of the strain Pseudokircheneriella subcapitata (three replicate flasks per concentration) and six replicate controls were tested. Algal growth inhibition was observed during the 72-hour test period at 10 mg/L and above. The test was considered valid.
