Description of key information

Based on the guideline study (Clarke, 2010), the EC50(3h) of the test item is >1000mg/L for activated sewage sludge. Results of this study are reliable without restrictions.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
1 000 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
1 000 mg/L

Additional information

The Klimisch 1, key study by Clarke performed a test at concentrations of 10, 32, 100, 320 and 1000 mg/L. Activated sewage sludge from a predominantly domestic sewage treatment plant was used in the study. The rate of respiration was determined after 3 hours contact time, with a synthetic sewage as a respiratory substrate. No inhibition was observed at nominal concentrations up to and including 1000 mg/L. The test was considered valid.
