Flammability:
extremely flammable

Additional information

Information regarding the flammability of chlorotrifluoroethylene was sourced from four separate sources which are known to contain peer-reviewed data of Klimisch-2 reliability: the NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health), the Dangerous Properties of Industrial Materials (Ed. 6th), the Condensed Chemical Dictionary (Ed. 9th) and the Critical reviews in Toxicology all of them state that the flammable (explosive) range of CTFE in air in percent by volume is 24 - 40.3%.

Information regarding the flammability of chlorotrifluoroethylene was also sourced a non-peer reviewed sources of Klimisch-4 reliability which, although non-valid, reports that he flammable range of CTFE in air in percent by volume is 14.2 - 43.7%.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE) is classified as FLAMMABLE, CATEGORY 1 according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008
