Description of key information

The auto-ignition temperature of CTFE is 566°C at 73.6 PSIA (5.01 atm)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A well documented study is available reporting that chlorotrifluoroethylene has an auto-ignition temperature of 566°C at 73.6 PSIA (5.01 atm)

Information regarding the auto-ignition temperature of chlorotrifluoroethylene was also sourced from another study of Klimisch-3 reliability which reports that neat CTFE does not autoignite even at 550°C. Autoignition does not occur when CTFE gas under pressure is suddenly released (by means of a bursting rupture disc) into a pipe filled with air at atmospheric pressure.
