Description of key information

The solubility of potassium sorbate was determined with the flask method according to the EU method A.6 and OECD 105 testing guideline.

Additional information

The following results were calculated from the solubility of sorbic acid under titration with sodium base (pH 4), extrapolated from an experimentally determined value (pH=7), or determined experimentally as the average value of all determined concentrations at the same temperature level and same final pH (pH 9):

pH 4.0:  1.50 g/l (10 °C);  1.95 g/l (20 °C);  2.85 g/l (30 °C)

pH 7.0:  539 g/l (10 °C);  543 g/l (20 °C);  563 g/l (30 °C)

pH 9.0:  539 g/l (10 °C);  543 g/l (20 °C);  563 g/l (30 °C)

The solubility of potassium sorbate at pH 9 is distinctly dependent on the previous addition of buffer, but did not show any significant temperature dependency.
