Description of key information

The dissociation constant of potassium sorbate as a function of pH in aqueous solution was determined according to OECD guideline 112. The test was performed with the spectriphotometric method using UV absorption at a wavelength of 280 nm.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

pKa at 20°C:
4.69

Additional information

The pKa of potassium sorbate in aqueous solution at 20 °C was determined to be 4.69 +/- 0.03.
