Conclusions:
No firm conclusions can be drawn from this non-validated in vitro method. The relevance for the in vivo situation is doubtful.
Executive summary:

An in vitro study examining the effect of carbon black (Printex 90) on mouse Leydig TM3 cells for 24 hours at 1 mg/mL showed significantly decreased cell viability. 48h incubation enhanced steroidogenic acute regulatory mRNA expression in the cells at 10 and 30 µg/mL. No effect on HO-1 expression.
