Additional information

Studies are available for blown linseed oil (BLO) and blown rapeseed oil (BRO). For BLO, one key study and two supporting studies are available. In the key study BLO wastested under the conditions of the conducted modified Sturm test (OECD guideline 301B) and shown to be readily biodegradable. The relative biodegradation values calculated from the measurements performed during the test period revealed 76 and 79% biodegradation of BLO, for the duplicate bottles tested. Also the 10-day window, the criterion for Ready biodegradability, was met. For BRO, two key studies and two supporting studies are available. In one key study conducted according to OECD 301F, BRO was also shown to be readily biodegradable. Based on these data, blown castor oil is expected to be readily biodegradable.

Based on the lack of analytical method, simulation tests on ultimate degradation in surface water, sediment and soil are waived.
