Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Castor oil, oxidized is a UVCB substance which is extremely lipophylic and poorly water soluble.

From read-across to studies with blown rapeseed oil and blown linseed oil it can be concluded that the substance is readily biodegradable.

Due to the lipophylic nature and poor water solubility of the substance, the substance is expected to adsorb to organic matter in soil and sediment. Although the log Kow of blown castor oil is >7, the molecular weight of this substance is between 500 and 5000 g/mol.

Due to the complex character of this UVCB, no suitable analytical methods are available. Therefore further testing on stability (hydrolysis), biodegradation, bioaccumulation and adsorption/desorption is not technically feasible.
