Additional information

Based on read across from the xylene isomers and ethylbenzene, the streams in this category are readily biodegradable. These streams are expected to have low potential for bioaccumulation based on a measured BCF of 25.9 in fish for mixed xylene. Based on read across of a measured log Koc value of 2.73 for o-xylene the streams in this category are expected to have moderate adsorption to suspended solids and sediment in water. Structural analysis of the components of these streams indicates that they are not expected to undergo hydrolysis in the environment due to the lack of hydrolyzable functional groups.

These streams are not expected to persist in the environment because they are readily biodegradable, have a moderate potential for adsorption to organic matter and have a low potential for bioaccumulation.
