Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

2-Methylbut-3-yn-2-ol is miscible with water. Based on the partition coefficient (log Pow) of 0.318, significant accumulation in biological tissues is not expected. Considering the high vapor presssure (20 hPa), exposure by inhalation is possible.

No studies analyzing kinetics and metabolism are available. However, from the toxicity studies mentioned in chapter 7.2 -7.8, it can be assumed that 2-Methylbut-3-yn-2-ol will be absorbed via the gastrointestinal tract and the respiratory tract. Dermal absorption must be low as no systemic toxicity was observed at a dose of 2,000 mg/kg b.w. while after acute oral exposure the LD50 in the same species (rat) is significantly lower (1,420 mg/kg b .w.).
