Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The relative density of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNT) was determined by the pycnometer method to 1.988 at 20°C (Erstling, 2007a).

The agglomerate density of MWCNT was determined by high-pressure mercury porosimetry to 0.32 g/cm3 (Hammer, 2010a). Using low-pressure mercury porosimetry an agglomerate density of 0.14 g/cm3 was determined (Hammer, 2010b).

The true density of MWCNT was determined by the pycnometer method and was found to be 2.08 g/cm3 (25°C)  (Hammer, 2009).

The apparent settled density measured according to ISO 60 protocol is about 50 ± 15 g/l at 25°C (Lecloux, 2011a). The pour density of MWCNT was determined by a pycnometer method to 0.156 g/ml (non-micronised) and 0.109 g/ml (micronised) (Hammer, 2008).

Test material is meeting the form as described in section 4.5 of the IUCLID dossier.
