Description of key information

Bioaccumulation: aquatic/sediment: Low potential for bioaccumulation

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance hydrolyses very rapidly (half-life 11.3 minutes at pH 7 and 25°C) to form dimethylsilanol. Dimethylsilanol has a low log Kow value (0.6) and thus has a low potential for bioaccumulation. The ultimate hydrolysis product dimethylsilanediol also has a low log Kow (-0.38); therefore, in accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the bioaccumulation in aquatic species study does not need to be conducted.
