Additional information

Two long term aquatic toxicity studies are available for two relevant trophic levels, algae and aquatic invertebrates. The 72h NOEC for algae is 1.6 mg/L and the 21d NOEC for Daphnia is 0.32 mg/L. As the 21d NOEC for Daphnia is the lowest value and therefore the most sensitive endpoint it has been selected to derive the PNEC values.

Conclusion on classification

Based on results of the ecotoxicological tests and the ready biodegradability test, zinc 3,5-bis(α-methylbenzyl)salicylate is classified as chronic aquatic toxicity category 3.
