The toxicity of CAHC can be described to the pH increase due to the addition of OH-, as the calcium and aluminum concentrations are too low to explain the effects. The toxicity of CAHC is depending inthe composition of the test waters, especially the buffer capacity of the water.

Thus, in real aquatic departments the LC50 of CAHC should be much greater than 10 mg/l.
