Conclusions:
The average particle size of 6-[[(4-methylphenyl)sulphonyl]amino]hexanoic acid is 30.7 µm. Only 6.3% (average of five measurements) of the
particles showed a size of < 2 µm representing the small respirable fraction.
Executive summary:

The particle size distribution analysis of 6-[[(4-methylphenyl)sulphonyl]amino]hexanoic acid (ASC plus) was performed according to the OECD 110 guideline (laser diffraction method). The average particle size of ASC plus is 30.7 µm. Information regarding the percentile of the particle size distribution is as follows: D10 = 5.1 µm, D50 = 25.3 µm and D90 = 61.2 µm. Only 6.3% (average of five measurements) of the particles showed a size of < 2 µm representing the small respirable fraction.

Description of key information

The particle size distribution analysis of 6-[[(4-methylphenyl)sulphonyl]amino]hexanoic acid (ASC plus) was performed according to the OECD 110 guideline. The particle size was determined using the laser diffraction method and the Coulter LS 230 as apparatus. A histogram showing the particle size distribution of ASC plus is attached.
