From a laboratory study with the lepidopteran moth Ephestia cautella, in which 0-48 hour old embryos were placed in jars with spiked food and the trest continued through to pupation, the NOEL was 50 mg Cr(VI)/kg food (based on pupae numbers, malformed pupae and eggs hatched).
