The mean measured surface tension of a 1.004 g/l solution of sodium octane-1-sulphonate in de-ionised water was determined to be 44.93 mN/m at 25 °C.

Conclusions:
The mean measured surface tension of a 1.004 g/l solution of the test item in de-ionised water was determined to be 44.93 mN/m at 25 °C.
Executive summary:

OECD 115 – The surface tension of the test item was determined using the plate method.  The procedure employed was designed to be compatible with OECD Guideline for the testing of chemicals number 115 (adopted 27 July 1995).

An instrumentation calibration was performed using ultra-pure water.  A standard solution of test item in de-ionised water was prepared to a concentration of 1 g/l.  From this solution three aliquots were taken and transferred to the experimental apparatus.  Surface tension measurement was performed on each aliquot within 1 hour of preparation of the test item solution.  Each measurement was conducted at 25 °C.

The mean surface tension following measurement of a 1 g/l solutions of test item in de-ionised water was determined to be 44.9 mN/m at 25 °C.
