Reference
Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
calculation (if not (Q)SAR)
Remarks:
Migrated phrase: estimated by calculation
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Calculation based on good quality experimental data. Limited reporting detail.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient)
Version / remarks:
(of Directive 92/69/EEC)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
Reporting detail limited (e.g. missing test item description, GLP compliance).
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
other: calculation from solubility data.
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
other: not applicable
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
< -2.3
Temp.:
25 °C
pH:
7
Remarks on result:
other: Since no test was perfomed, standard pH and temperature have been assumed
Details on results:
The aqueous solubility of the test substance is approximately 18 g/L (Petrovic, 1998b). Its solubility in n-octanol was found to be below 0.1 g/L in a preliminary test. Therefore the approximate partition coefficient is < 0.006, and the log Pow is < -2.3.
Conclusions:
The partition coefficient (octanol/water) of tetraamineplatinum(II) hydrogencarbonate was calculated to be < -2.3.
Executive summary:

Direct measurement of the partition coefficient (octanol/water) of tetraammineplatinum(II) hydrogencarbonate was not possible. Based on the solubilities of the test substance in water and n-octanol, the partition coefficient was calculated to be < -2.3.

Description of key information

The partition coefficient (octanol/water) of tetraamineplatinum(II) hydrogencarbonate was calculated to be < -2.3 (Petrovic, 1998a)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
-2.3

Additional information

The aqueous solubility of the test substance is approximately 18 g/L (Petrovic, 1998b). Its solubility in n-octanol was found to be below 0.1 g/L in a preliminary test. Therefore the approximate partition coefficient is < 0.006, and the log Pow is < -2.3 (Petrovic, 1998a).
