Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

JUSTIFICATION FOR CLASSIFICATION OR NON-CLASSIFICATION

There are no adequate chronic data, thus the aquatic toxicity classification has been evaluated on the basis of the short-term toxicity tests.

The substance is water soluble, not expected to be bioaccumulative (based on the log Kow) and it is non readly biodegradable.

According to the the CLP Regulation (EC n. 1272/2008), a substance shall be classified as Aquatic Category Acute 1 when:

96 hr LC50 (for fish) < 1 mg/l and/or

48 hr EC50 (for crustacea) < 1 mg/l and/or

72 or 96 hr ErC50 (for algae or other aquatic plants) < 1 mg/l.

None of the organisms investigated showed adverse effects at concentrations lower than 1 mg/l.

According to the the CLP Regulation (EC n. 1272/2008), substance for which adequate chronic toxicity data are not available shall be classified as Aquatic Chronic 3 when:

96 hr LC50 (for fish) > 10 to < 100 mg/l and/or

48 hr EC50 (for crustacea) > 10 to < 100 mg/l and/or

72 or 96 hr ErC (for algae or other aquatic plants) > 10 to < 100 mg/l.

and the substance is not rapidly degradable and/or the experimentally determined BCF ≥ 500 (or, if absent, the log Kow ≥ 4)

None of the organisms investigated showed adverse effects at concentrations lower than 100 mg/l.

In conclusion, the substance does not meet the criteria to be classified for aquatic acute/chronic toxicity, based on the CLP Regulation (EC n. 1272/2008).
