Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Acid Yellow 017 decomposes at a temperature below 500 °C, with an energy less than 500 J/g: the DSC analysis showed an exothermic event between 335 - 412 °C (onset = 377.6 °C) with an enthalpy of 192.4 J/g.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the definition set out in the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008) an explosive substance or mixture is a solid or liquid substance or mixture of substances which is in itself capable by chemical reaction of producing gas at such a temperature and pressure and at such a speed as to cause damage to the surroundings. Pyrotechnic substances are included even when they do not evolve gases.

Based on the thermal behaviour of the substance the specific tests was not conducted and the substance is considered as non explosive.
