Description of key information

The vapour pressure of MEXORYL SCK was determined to be 6.5 x 10 -7 Pa at 25°C (low volatility)

Additional information

One GLP study was performed in order to determine the vapour pressure of MEXORYL SCK (also called MEXORYL SBT) according to OECD 104 and EU method A.4. The vapour pressure was determined using a vapour pressure balance.

A preliminary run was undertaken over the temperature range 20 to 120°C to allow removal of volatil impurities and provide information for the suitable temperature range for the main test. Then, the vapour pressure of MEXORYL SCK was measured over a range of temperature between 110 and 120°C. A plot of log10Vp(Pa) versus reciprocal temperature (1/T(K)) therefore gives a straight line graph. Finally, the vapour pressure of the test item at 298.5K was extrapolated. A sequence of 10 runs was started after a sample of test item had been under vacuum for approximately 117 1/4 hours and the mean of the measurements was retained.

The vapour pressure of MEXORYL SCK was determined to be 6.5 x 10 -7 Pa at 25°C.

The result was retained as key data for purpose of CSA because the GLP study can be considered as reliable regarding the international recognised method used. However some restrcitions were reported because the linearity of the method cannot be checked in the range 0 to 50°C. Due to the low Vapour pressure of the test item, the measurements of vapour pressure were made between 110 and 120°C and the vapour pressure of the test item was extrapolated at 25°C.
