Delta-damascone was not found to be readily biodegradable after 28 days under aerobic conditions.

Additional information

One GLP-compliant study performed in accordance with OECD Guideline 301C (MITI test) is available (Kurume Laboratory, 2007a).The test concentration used (100 mg/L) was slightly above the water solubility of delta-damascone (77.2 mg/L).Under aerobic conditions delta-damascone was not found to be ready biodegradable; 16% biodegradation of the test substance was found after 28 days. Some of the test item was changed into 1-(2,6,6-trimethyl-3-cyclohexen-1-yl)ethanone and 3-hydroxy-1-(2,6,6-trimethyl-3-cyclohexen-1-yl)-1-butanone under the test conditions of this study. The rest of the test item, 1-(2,6,6-trimethyl-3-cyclohexen-1-yl)ethanone and 3-hydroxy-1-(2,6,6-trimethyl-3-cyclohexen-1-yl)-1-butanone were not biodegraded by microorganisms and remained.
