Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (sensitising)
Additional information:

The test substance induced a Stimulation Index of 10.1 at a concentration of 25% in the mouse local lymph node assay. Therefore, the test substance, 4,4'-Isopropylidenedicyclohexanol, oligomeric reaction products with 1-chloro-2,3-epoxypropane, is considered to be a Moderate skin sensitzer. Based upon ECHA guidance a DNEL dermal of 21 ug/cm2 can be established.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
The test substance, 4,4'-Isopropylidenedicyclohexanol, oligomeric reaction products with 1-chloro-2,3-epoxypropane , was evaluated for dermal sensitization potential in an O.E.C.D. test guideline 429 mouse LLNA assay.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on positive findings from an O.E.C.D. test guideline 429 mouse LLNA study the test substance, 4,4'-Isopropylidenedicyclohexanol, oligomeric reaction products with 1-chloro-2,3-epoxypropane, is an EU CLP Category I skin sensitizer with H317 "May cause an allergic skin reaction". Under EU Directive 67/548/EEC the test substance is R43, "May cause sensitisation by skin contact".
