Composed primarily of the C10H16 terpene hydrocarbons: α-pinene, β-pinene, limonene, 3-carene, camphene. May contain other acyclic, monocyclic, or bicyclic terpenes, oxygenated terpenes, and anethole. Exact composition varies with refining methods and the age, location, and species of the softwood source.
In accordance with Section 1 of REACH Annex XI (EC 2006), the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a UVCB. Standard tests for this endpoint are intended for single substances and are not appropriate for establishing the risk assessment of this complex substance. For the purpose of risk assessment, sediment PNECs for the constituent blocks have been derived using aquatic PNECs in conjunction with the equilibrium partitioning method (EqP).
