Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Appearance of the test substances was observed. Description of appearance is based on visual observation.
FBC Ash (both Fly Ash and Bottom Ash) is produced inside the boiler. FBC Fly Ash is carried out along with the flue gas and leaves the furnace in the upper part of the boiler. It is mostly collected in electrostatic precipitators or mechanically by separation in fabric filters. FBC Bottom Ash is collected at the bottom of the boiler and is representing the coarser part of the ash. FBC Fly Ash and Bottom Ash may be mixed and extracted together as FBC Ash.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
solid

Additional information

The appearance was observed for Fly Ash and Bottom Ash separately because it is collected in different ways due to its particle size.

Fluidized Bed Combustion (FBC) Bottom Ash is a light grey solid powder with some black and white particle.

Fluidized Bed Combustion (FBC) Fly Ash is a light grey solid powder.

The difference in appearance of test substances is some black and white particle in Bottom Ash.
