Experimental results of acute toxicity studies are available for the three trophic levels (algae, Daphnia and fish). Six reliable OECD guideline studies are available for FBC Ashes which were conducted at a limit test of 100 mg/L (nominal concentration). Experimental result of long-term toxicity study is available for invertebrates.

Acute toxicity testing on fish, invertebrates, and algae and long-term toxicity testing on invertebrates indicate a low order of toxicity with effect concentrations >100 mg.L-1 (nominal concentration), resp. > 10 mg.L-1 (loading rate). The following results were obtained:

Daphnia magna: EC50 (48h)> 100 mg.L-1

Poecilia reticulata:LC50(96h)>100 mg.L-1

Desmodesmus subspicatus: ErC50 (72h)>100 mg.L-1

Daphnia magna: EL50 (21 days) > 10 mg.L-1

Respiration of activated sludge is not inhibited at FBC Ashes concentration > 1000 mg.L-1.
