First-aid measures

INHALATION:

- Move the person away from the contaminated area.

- If breathing stops, provide artificial respiration and seek medical attention.

SKIN CONTACT:

- Wash with water.

- Remove all contaminated clothing and footwear.

- Use appropriate protective equipment when treating a contaminated person.

- Seek medical treatment in case of complaints.

EYE CONTACT:

- Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes (at least 15 minutes). Remove contact lenses. Continue rinsing.

- Protect unharmed eye.

- Call a doctor immediately.

- Rinse with running water whilst keeping the eyes wide open (at least 15 minutes).

- If irritation persists, consult a doctor. Show this sheet to the doctor.

INGESTION:

- Never attempt to induce vomiting. Do not give anything to drink but rinse mouth thoroughly with water.

PROTECTION OF FIRST-AIDERS:

- Ensure adequate ventilation of the working area.

- Respiratory protection with a particle filter if dust from solid is present.

- Appropriate gloves.

- Goggles.

- Protective clothing.

FURTHER INFORMATION:

- Use appropriate protective equipment when treating a contaminated person.

- Place contaminated clothing in a sealed bag for disposal.

Fire-fighting measures

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA:

- Suitable: use extinguishing media suitable to surrounding fire conditions.

- Not suitable: None. If there is a fire close by, use suitable extinguishing agents.

SPECIFIC HAZARDS:

- Burning can produce irritating toxic and obnoxious fumes.

- Use water spray to cool containers.

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS:

- Ensure adequate ventilation of the working area.

- Personal protective equipment:

          - Safety spectacles

          - Goggles

          - Suitable protective clothing

          - Appropriate gloves

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS:

- Do not allow product to enter drains. Prevent further spillage if safe.

METHODS FOR CLEANING UP:

- Recovery

       - For solid matter: Collect up the product and place it in a spare container, suitably labelled.

       - For liquid matter: absorb with inert, absorbent material. Sweep up. Transfer to suitably labelled container for disposal.

- Cleaning/Decontamination: Clean spillage area thoroughly with lime and flush to drain with plenty of water, observing any local regulations.

Handling and storage

HANDLING:

- Technical measures: Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

- Measures: Adopt best Manual Handling considerations when handling, carrying and dispensing.

- Safe handling advice: Only use in well-ventilated areas.

STORAGE:

- Storage conditions recommended: Stable under normal storage conditions.

- Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon oxides.

- Incompatible products: Strong alkalis and metals.

Exposure controls / personal protection

- Appropriate engineering controls: Avoid creating mist or spray. Either local exhaust or general room ventilation is usually required. Emergency safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.

- Personal protective equipment: Gloves. Protective goggles.

- Hand protection: Wear protective gloves. PVC. EN 374.

- Eye protection: Chemical goggles or safety glasses. EN 166.

- Respiratory protection: Where exposure through inhalation may occur from use, respiratory protection equipment is recommended. A properly fitted respirator with acid/mist cartridges is recommended in instances where exposures may be exceeded. EN 12083.

Stability and reactivity

- Reactivity: No additional information available

- Chemical stability: Stable at ambient temperature and under normal conditions of use.

- Possibility of hazardous reactions: Hazardous polymerization will not occur.

- Conditions to avoid: Do not store with incompatible materials. Extremely high or low temperatures.

- Incompatible materials: Bases. May be corrosive to metals.

- Hazardous decomposition products: Fume. Carbon monoxide. Carbon dioxide.

Disposal considerations

- Waste treatment methods: Disposal should be carried out with lime under controlled conditions at a licensed waste processor.

- Waste disposal recommendations: Dispose in a safe manner in accordance with local/national regulations.

- Ecology - waste materials: Avoid release to the environment.

- EURLW code: For disposal within the EC, the appropriate code according to the European Waste Catalogue (EWC) should be used.
