Conclusion on classification

The short-term LC50 or EC50 values were 15.8, 25 and 6.7 mg/l, for fish, daphnia and algae, respectively, so between 1 and 10 mg/l. Cyclacet does not meet the criteria for readily/rapidly biodegradable. It can be concluded that the substance does not need to be classified as Aquatic Acute toxic according to EU CLP (EC 1272/2008 and its amendments).

Chronic toxicity data are available for algae on the substance itself and for fish and invertebrates via read-across from the structurally similar substance Cyclaprop. The lowest NOEC / EC10 from these chronic tests is a 21d-NOEC of 1.8 mg/L for Daphnia. Therefore, based on the available chronic data in combination with its non-rapidly degradability, Cyclacet does not need to be classified for long-term hazards to the environment according to EU CLP (EC 1272/2008 and its amendments) as the NOEC/EC10 values are above 1 mg/L.

For GHS: The acute toxicity of 6.7 mg/l for Cyclacet results in Acute Cat. 2 (H401).
