Description of key information

oral: The acute oral LD50 was investigated in a study with rats and was determined to be 4264 mg/kg bw.
inhal.: The acute LC50 was determined to be greater than 10.7 mg/kg bw in rats.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Acute toxicity: via oral route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
4 264 mg/kg bw

Additional information

After a single oral dose administered to rats the calculated LD50 value of 3,4 -Dihydropyrane was 4264 mg/kg bw. [BASF, 1978]

The acute toxicity after inhalation was investigated in a study performed with rats. Rats were exposed to air enriched with 3,4 -Dihydropyrane for 4 hours in a whole body inhalation chamber. Based on the available data, the test substance needs not to be classified since no mortality was observed. [BASF, 1978]

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification for acute oral, dermal and inhalation toxicity is not warranted according to the criteria of EU Directive 67/548/EEC and EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
