Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The inhibiting effect of 4 -hydroxyacetophenone on oxygen consumption of activated sludge was investigated in an activated sludge respiration inhibition test according to OECD guideline 209 at following test concentrations: 62.5, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/L (BASF SE, 2012). After an incubation time of 180 min the obtained effect concentrations resulted in EC20, EC50and EC80values of 130 mg/L, 380 mg/L and > 1000 mg/L, respectively.
