Description of key information

The substance was tested for acute toxicity towards invertebrates (Daphnia magna) yielding an EC50(48 h) ≥ 96.9 mg/L (Bayer AG, 1999b).

Additional information

Under exposure conditions, the substance undergoes hydrolysis forming different by-products. In the present case, the TOC analysis was performed, which gives only a very rough impression of the potential decarboxylation processes during the 48 h exposure period. As the chemical nature and the relative amounts of the hydrolysis products remain unknown, the present study assesses the effects of both, the parent substance and the hydrolysis products.

The TOC analysis confirmed almost 100 % recovery after termination of the test excluding the formation of volatile hydrolysis products. Nevertheless, arithmetic mean concentrations were reported instead of nominal concentrations.
