Description of key information

The substance was tested for acute toxicity towards fish (Brachydanio rerio) yielding an LC0(96 h) ≥ 87.0 mg/L (Bayer AG, 1999b).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Under exposure conditions, the substance undergoes hydrolysis forming different by-products. In the present case, the TOC analysis was performed, which gives only a very rough impression of the potential decarboxylation processes during the 48 h exposure period. As the chemical nature and the relative amounts of the hydrolysis products remain unknown, the present study assesses the effects of both, the parent substance and the hydrolysis products.

The TOC analysis confirmed a test item recovery greater than 80 % after termination of the test. Nevertheless, arithmetic mean concentrations were reported instead of nominal concentrations.
