Description of key information

Flammability:
The flammability of a substance is determined following the methods N.1 (UN-manual of testing) or A.10 (EU-method). However, in accordance with section 2 of REACH Annex XI, a study is technically not feasible as the substance is a liquid. The flammability of a liquid is described by the flash point.
Flammability on contact with water or humid air:
The flammability of a substance in contact with water is determined following the methods N.5 (UN-Manual of testing) or A.12 (EU-method). However, in accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, a study does not need to be conducted as it is scientifically unjustified. During handling and use, the substance does not liberate highly flammable gases in contact with water or humid air.
Pyrophoric properties:
Pyrophoric properties are determined following the methods N.3 (UN-Manual of testing) or A.13 (EU-method). However, in accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, a study does not need to be conducted as it is scientifically unjustified. During handling and use, no pyrophoric properties were observed and the structure does not give a reference to pyrophoric properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

(a) Flammability: In accordance with section 2 of REACH Annex XI, a study is technically not feasible as the substance is a liquid. The flammability of a liquid is described by the flash point. With a flash point of 105°C the substance is classified as non-flammable.

(b) No flammability in contact with water: The substance contains no metals or metalloids and therefore will not release flammable gases in contact with water.

(c) Pyorphoric properties: Experience in production or handling; substance is known to be stable at room temperature.

(d) In accordance with Annex I, part 2, section 2.11 of the CLP regulation No 1272/2008 a study on self-heating behaviour of the substance does not need to be conducted, as the substance is a liquid.

(e) In accordance with Annex I, part 2, section 2.8.4.2 of the CLP regulation No 1272/2008 a study on self-reacting behaviour of the substance does not need to be conducted, as the structural formula of the substance contains none of the functional groups quoted in Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - Manual of Tests and Criteria (fifth revised edition, 2009, appendix 6, table A 6.2) which may indicate self-reactive properties.

Therefore, it can be concluded by expert judgement that the substance is not self-reactive.
