Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance is an on-site intermediate. Therefore, exposure will be minimal, and repeat dose toxicity information is not necessary. Disilane, chloro Me derivs.is expected to hydrolyse rapidly in contact with water to give hydrogen chloride and, initially, the silanol derivatives of the three main constituents, and further hydrolyse to methylsilanetriol and dimethylsilanediol. The repeat dose toxicity of these substances, and risk characterisation at far higher exposure than is expected for this submission substance, have been assessed in the CSRs of the REACH-registered chlorosilane precursorstrichloro(methyl)silane (CAS 75-79-6, EC200-902-6)and dichloro(dimethyl)silane (CAS 75-78-5, EC200-901-0). However, a semi-quantitative risk characterisation of this submission substance has been made on the basis of the key toxicological endpoint, generation of hydrogen chloride.
