PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The substance has been shown to be not readily biodegradable in the environment having achieved only 13 % degradation in an experimental study conducted to OECD Method 302(C). As such the substance, in the absence of evidence to the contrary is considered to meet the "persistent" criteria.

The substance has been shown in a study conducted in accordance with the relevant Japanese guideline to have an experimental BCF of up to 23 200. As such the substance can be considered to meet the relevant screening criteria as a bioaccumulative substance.

Short term environmental toxicity data indicates that the substance potentially fulfils the T criterion and the classification for STOT RE as Category 1 for human health indicates that the substance must be considered "T".

The substance is considered to meet each of the criteria to be considered as a PBT substance.

Likely routes of exposure:

The substance will be manufactured and used under strictly controlled conditions and thus there will be no release to the environment.  Humans and the environment are therefore unlikely to be exposed.
