Estimation of vapour pressure of the test item Reaction product of naphthalene, butanol, sulfonated and neutralized by caustic soda at 20°C based on experimental data: 0.001 PaEstimation of vapour pressure of an analogue substance Reaction product of naphthalene, propan-2-ol, sulfonated and neutralized by caustic soda at 25°C based on experimental data: 0.000021 Pa
The vapour pressure of Reaction product of naphthalene, butanol,
sulfonated and neutralized by caustic soda was determined
with a vapour pressure balance according to Method A4 Vapour Pressure of
Commission Regulation (EC) 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and GLP. No deviation
from the guidelines was observed in the study.
No evaporation in mass of the test item was observed in the study. So no
vapour pressure could have been determined experimentally. The vapour
pressure has been considered as lower than 0.005 Pa at 140°C and as a
consequence lower than 0.001 Pa at 20°C.
This value is in accordance with the result obtained on a analogue
substance (Reaction product of naphthalene, propan-2-ol,
sulfonated and neutralized by caustic soda) obtained with the same
method (vapour pressure balance). No deviation from the guideline
was observed during the test. No statistical analysis were performed
because the balance readings were to low and variable for a line of best
fit to have any meaning. Instead it was considered more appropriate to
impose a regression slope on a chosen data point to provide an estimate
of the maximum value for the vapour pressure at 25°C.
Based on the vapour pressure value at 25°C and 20°C, the test item isn't
considered as volatile.
