Endpoint:
dissociation constant
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance has no ionic structure

Description of key information

It was concluded that the monomer and the dimer will be present at its undissociated form under environmental conditions (pH 4 to 9).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

pKa at 20°C:
11.08

Additional information

The pka for the monomer (4-methylpentane-2,2-diyl dihydroperoxide ) was estimated to be pKa1 = 11.15 and pKa2 = 12.27 respectively. Thus it was concluded that under environmental conditions (pH 4 to 9) the substance is only present in its undissociated form.

The pka for the dimer (dioxybis-4-methylpentane-2,2-diyl dihydroperoxide) was estimated to be pKa1 = 11.08 and pKa2 = 11.76 respectively. Thus it was concluded that under environmental conditions (pH 4 to 9) the substance is only present in its undissociated form.
